Hi I joined the forum 2 days ago, not too good with computers so only just found out how to post a thread.
My husband was diagnosed Christmas 2015 with MS, 2 years prior he lost feeling in his legs (went numb and cold) the doctor kept passing it off as a temporary problem then one morning he couldn’t see properly a visit to the optician said his muscles in the eyes were pulling against each other ( it could rectify itself anytime we were told ) but glasses sorted this out. Later on he had a problem with his hearing so the doctor sent him for an MRI scan, he was then referred to a consultant and after tests was told he had MS.
We haven’t really had much information on this just a couple of leaflets and what I have read on the internet but you just get more confused, it is like being in limbo the consultant said it could worsen or not, how it affects you is something you can’t predict. I just wonder if there is anyone out there who was diagnosed around 58 years old as I understand it is more likely someone would be in their 20s when diagnosed. have noticed he has to concentrate when walking more and can wobbly to the side ( a bit like a drunk person ) also sometimes his speech can slur but it is the mood swings and sharpness in which he answers me now I have noticed, he was always such an easy going person now he is stubborn, will insist he is right, and is more forgetful.
I am finding this so hard as I gave up my job 3 years ago to help my dad with my mum who has Alzheimer’s ( as this has worsened she needs extra care now so I am not needed as much ) but I am left jobless, financially worse off and worried sick as my husband is self employed and I wonder how long it will be before he can’t work himself.
thanks for reading my post hope someone has a little advice they can give. Bev
