Well, it has to be said that previous to me purchasing the indoor rollator i was pretty adamant I wasnt having 1 despite the fact I have walking sticks, powerchair and scooter, I think I saw it as ANOTHEF piece of equipment to add to the rest, anyway I came to the realisation that it Would be a positive rather than a negative.
Do
So, it was ordered, it arrived, I’ve used it and the conclusion is WHOAAAAA FANNNNNNNTASTIC, it is an indoor rollator so its narrow ( obviously to fit easily through doorways ) its lightweight, it folds down to store or put in car. It gives an even stability whereas the stick was slowly causing me to ‘lean’ to the right ( I held the stick in my right hand ) thus causing back ache.
So, I can honestly say that the rollator is a lovely, helpful positive choice.
Hello @Tally I quite agree with you. Can walk but use sticks outside and until recently I used to walk slowly around the house making use of furniture. I then bought myself a TriRoller: light weight and folding. When needed I use it around the house; use the seat to carry things from room to room and if I’m feeling energetic then I jog around the house using the TriRoller for balance
It’s great to hear how positive your experience has been with the indoor rollator! Sometimes it can be difficult to accept using another piece of equipment, especially when you already have other mobility aids, as it can feel like an extra reminder of needing support.
It’s interesting that you noticed the difference in stability compared with using a walking stick. Having more even support can make such a difference, not only for confidence when moving around but also for reducing strain on your body.
It sounds like the rollator has given you more freedom and comfort around your home, which is exactly what these aids are designed for — helping people stay independent rather than taking independence away.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s a great reminder that trying something new can sometimes lead to a really positive change.
Yes @sscareuk1 it has made a negative into a positive.
I see it as why on earth struggle and put off doing A B and C when A B and C can be made soooooo much easier if we just welcome any help out there
I am only 61 ( she says ONLY ) and i didn’t envisage needing all the equipment that i have, but fact is fact, it is what it is.
So yes, not only has the rollator helped enormously with carrying things about BUT its helped ENORMOUSLY with the backache i was experiencing and for THAT alone it is PERRRRRFECT .
I can’t claim to smooth or speedy jogging ! but the Rollator certainly makes life easier in lots of small but valuable ways. No longer have to make such very very careful and slow trips carrying a cup of tea from kitchen to living room and so on
