eyes

hi, does anyone suffer with dry eyes, have been given a few different eye drops and nothing seems to work

Hello Hutchy, yes I suffer with dry eyes and use Celluvisc which I get on prescription from the doc’s. They are preservertive free and works a treat. Moorfields eye hospital first put me on them so I’d give them a try. Hope this helps.

Hi Hutchy,

I have an ongoing problem with just one of my eyes, which has never been properly diagnosed. The eye gets sore and gritty - I think it could be dry eye, as it seems better outdoors (moister atmosphere). It’s definitely not optic neuritis. Nobody has ever accepted it’s anything to do with my MS, although I think it first started about the same time as other symptoms (i.e. several years ago, now).

Some auto-immune conditions such as lupus are commonly associated with dry eye, but MS isn’t one of them. But I was tested for lupus and all the rest, en route to my MS diagnosis, but nothing found. So I’m still suspicious it’s the MS. I’ve found steroid drops calm it down when I get a really bad flare-up, but you can’t be on them all the time. Other than that, I get through lots of Optrex (very expensive) Actimist. I’ve also recently tried putting a very fine dab of baby oil on the lid, before going to bed. Seems to result in the eye not being so crusted up in the mornings. Still not found a perfect long-term solution, though, or even a proper diagnosis. Just having to live with it, and trot off to the doctor (who’s baffled) when it gets really bad.

Hello Hutchy,

Wasn’t until I went to bed that I remembered that at nights I also use Lacri-Lube ointment for dry eyes which once again you can get on prescription. I wake up and my eyes feel ok, a bit blurry until I’ve had a wash etc but it works.
