Evening all.

Hello everyone. New to the forum so just thought I’d pop in and say ‘hello’. I was diagnosed with RRMS in 2005 after waking up one morning blind! That came as a shock I can tell you! Diagnosed initially with retro-bulbar optical neuritis and then, very matter of factly, with RRMS. I was started on a course of Rebif, injecting Monday, Wednesday and Friday with weekends off. By the time I had worked back around to injection site number one though, I still found it to be swollen and sore. Completely out of the blue I had an allergic reaction to Pecan nuts and, strangely, they found the same genetic chemical make-up of Pecan nuts in the Rebif injections! They were abruptly stopped and I was changed onto Copaxone (the fear of self injecting had, by this time, gone). As I was only 44 at the time, they started to carefully monitor my relapses and decided (the cynic says financially) to stop my course of treatment until ‘it was warranted more’. Well we’re now up to date. For sometime now I have suffered from dizzy spells, daytime tiredness and severe, and I mean really severe, restless legs - burning, itching…really painful. Is this connected? I’ve never heard of it before and was just wondering if it is worth asking to see my specialist regarding restarting my Copaxone treatment again? Any help would be appreciated. Edan.

Hi Pat, thanks for your reply. I’m not currently on any medication at all since they stopped my course of injections, so that’s not a factor (in my case anyway) for inducing the restless legs. I’ve just had another night where, I think, I managed an hour of unbroken sleep due to it and its getting really monotonous now. I think an appointment with my MS nurse is way overdue now!!

Hellon Edan and welcome,

Sorry to hear you’re having problems. As Pat has said fatigue is a major player with ms and you need ro rest when your body says so, Have you got a ms nurse, if not go and pay your gp a visit and ask for something to take for your restless legs?

Hope you feel better soon and manage to get some sleep.

Janet
