My Mser, who has recently been weaned off pregabalin, is either bursting into tears or flying off the handle. Reactions to minor triggers, e.g, an item on the news or a noise, result in lots of shouting, stomping out of rooms and door slamming. After a few hours of sullen silence calm is restored. If I try to have a conversation about what’s happening I’m the ‘bad guy’. I need some advice please.
Hi, mmm a tricky one this.
I take it you are the carer of a lady with MS? Am I correct?
Maybe her behaviour is due to coming off pregabalin.
When is her next appointment with her neuro/MS nurse?
Can you make a phone call on her behalf to ask?

google emotional lablity, it is an actual thing recognised in people with MS.
it talks about going from euphoria to dysphoria.
I had it briefly myself and it really scared me.
anyone witnessing it would have believed that (a) I was making it up or (b) I was self medicating with class 1 drugs.
worse than that my sister really responds to fits of giggles by almost peeing herself laughing, then as soon as I hit the dysphoria stage she was sobbing her heart out. (She doesn’t have ms) (or bi-polar). It’s just that her emotions are very close to the surface.
Hope this helps.
