embarrassing

Hi, I’m embarrassed about this. When I have sex it feels like I need to poo. I’m seeing a urologist for bladder issues and been told to do pelvic floor exercises. Great if I could feel my pelvic floor tighten like it used to before this ms stuff happened. I have urgency issues and then my wee just trickles out slowly. Sometimes I have pooed when I was having a wee but haven’t felt my body do a thing. My torso can’t feel light touches but I can feel when the cat has just jumped on to my chest. When my partner touches ym arms it feels like a hot iron has just been put on me. Am I abnormal?

No your not abnormal at all I’m experiencing a similar thing at the moment, numb between the legs. I get the message that I need to go but can’t actually feel myself having one. Know I’ve had a wee because you can hear that but again can’t actually feel my self having it. I also feel like I’ve constantly got something heavy like a brick between my legs but only when I wear jeans/trousers. Strangest feeling ever - but your not alone and I’m sure there will be others that have had or have simillar feelings/sensations. Try not to let it get you down I’m 3 weeks in with this now and like most relapses I’m sure it will subside soon hopefully. xx

Hmm, I’m gonna put a link to a previous post I made on a method of emptying your bladder fully without drugs. It may or may not be helpful. http://www.mssociety.org.uk/forum/everyday-living/way-empty-you-bladder-without-drugs

As for the feeling of needing to poo, it’s possible you do, I’m assuming you’re a lass doing pelvic floor exercises so your vagina is right next to your bowel and any movement inside one will irriate the other. If your bowels are full then intercourse or penetration may irriate the bowel causing it to contract.

You know when baby animals are born in captivity the vets often rub their anus gently with tissue to encourage the instinctive first bowel movement. In the wild the mother would lick it for a similar result but captive animals tend to be born with human supervision so we started doing it. Well it turns out that sort of stimulation can also have an effect on humans…we are still natures creatures after all. I’m going to throw that factoid out there and let you think what you will.

Finally, don’t be too embarrassed, everyone here has the same problems, you’re not alone, you aren’t abnormal…in this community actually…you would be the opposite.

Hi Have you been given the types of exercises to do? A neurophysio can show you the best exercises to do and how to get them right. I felt much better after getting a course of physio Take care Neil

Hello,

Problems with having a pee. I was plagued by this issue for far too long, guess I was in denial. Eventually I manned up to it and started Intermittent Self Catheterisation.

Its not a nice thing to have to admit that you need to do. There comes a time when you have to face up to this problem. For a bloke it is fairly straight forward, cannot talk about ISC for women. It does empty the bladder, non of this trickle-trickle rubbish and going every hour. Eventually it becomes a part of your every-day life. Talk to MS Nurse for advice.

Hope this gives you a bit of help,

Patrick
