Driving after a relapse

Hi

does anyone have any official information about driving soon after a relapse? Am I obliged to let my insurance company know that I have been unable to drive but feel I can now? I just wondered if anyone else has been affected in this way?

thanks

Karen

i think it is up to you and your GP/Neuro if you are medically ok to drive. you are obliged to tell your insurance and the DVLA of the MS but not every time you have a relapse. if you feel you can drive safely and confidently now, it is up to you whether you do. obvs, if you have problems feeling the pedals or seeing not a good idea to go driving. it is down to your discretion

You do not have to notify anyone about a relapse, Karen.

If you feels safe to drive - no vision problems, normal reaction, can work the pedals OK - then drive.
If anything does not feel right, then don’t do it.

Thank you! I am being sensible about this so will wait till my right foot feels 100%. It’s nearly there so hopefully a few more days will sort it.

Thanks to everyone. I, too have just recovered from a relapse and was thinking the very same. Myfriend who also has ms and has had relapses in the past said the very same as the others. xxx
