Doing my teacher training while being newly diagnosed

Hi All, I was recently diagnosed with Rrms in May and have had 4 weeks off work. I am currently my teacher training in a secondary school. Is there anyone else out there who has done their training while having MS? If so what adjustements were made? I can’t complete the course and may need to defer which makes me sad as I was so close to finishing.

hi (can’t possibly even attempt your name)

make a list of adjustments that would be helpful.

you can discuss it with your tutor.

are you certain that you’ll need to defer?

if you do, just make yourself a promise that next year you WILL graduate.

good luck

Hiya At_higgedybiggedyboo,

I think, not absolutely sure, but I think Access to Work will help if possible; Get support in work if you have a disability or health condition (Access to Work) - GOV.UK give em a call; won’t hurt.

Hi, they will take into account your difficulties. I did manage to complete my degree, although at the time I didn’t know it was MS, ask for mitigating circumstances support. You may find you won’t have to defer. Tell them now though, especially as you are so close to completing. Obviously your symptoms will cause problems, but with support you may find there’s ways round it. Good luck Tracey
