Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has swapped their diet and it had a positive impact on their symptoms . I’ve read online and everything is so contradictory. I know what works for one person might not necessarily work for another but willing to try. Thanks
I doubt diet does much to improve MS, but it is good for general health and that must help. Stick to fresh food and your body will love you for it.

I have stopped eating sugary and highly processed foods and the symptoms have decreased. I tested it by having a pudding treat and sure enough i suffered for about 4 days.
It maybe different for you but if you try it and it doesnt work for you, you wont have lost anything.

That’s my go-to as well. What’s good for metabolic and general health is bound to be good for the brain.
I cannot say whether eating mostly the way suggested in whammel’s attachment has done anything in particular MS-wise for me. Mostly I give credit to Tysabri for the fact that my highly active RRMS has been quiet for over 10 years (fingers crossed, as ever). I’ve probably been eating this way for 6 years or so, and certainly I do feel very well - stronger, able to do more to stay reasonably fit, effortlessly lean despite being post-menopausal , possessed of a good appetite but untroubled by hunger between meals and surprisingly free of aches and pains. Etc. I think that whatever diet can do for a person, this way of eating is going for me, and I have no plans to change it.
Hi Justme, i tend to follow the suggestions in the ‘OVercoming MS website and books. Im not strict in adhering to the suggestions/recommendations ( going out for lunch this coming week and will no doubt eat lots of ‘unhealthy’ foods and drink too much red wine) but by and large i do follow them: cut down on saturated fats, increase unsaturated fats, plenty of fish including oily fish, fruit veg etc, grains , flaxseed or fish oil. I also try to include anti inflammatory foods/ ingredients: turmeric (including curcumin supplements) garlic, ginger.
I also look at the ‘Food for the Brain’ website : nothing particularly insightful but interesting.
As a general guide the rule of thumb that ‘whats good for the heart is good for the brain’ is pretty good. This includes trying to exercise and avoid emotional stress/ anxiety. Conversely , whats bad for the heart is bad for the brain.
Basically eat and do everything possible to feed a healthy body and provide support to what is essentially a damaged brain
Always bear in mind: you are what you eat and drink, then you can’t go wrong there.

I find that organic date syrup with fresh fruit on porridge every single day has helped a lot and also movement as no movement can leave us with static pain. Also stretching exercise is very good .
