Hello, my appointment with the neurologist isn’t for months yet but I was referred as I’m getting random sensations, twitching and pins and needles. The pins and needles is pretty much constant for me, hands, arms and now both legs. It feels like they are half asleep, not bad enough that I can’t walk or carry stuff but that odd sensation is always there. My GP put it down to stress, which I have loads of in my private life, but this seems too much to be just stress.
I’ve read that people with MS get different symptoms, and I don’t know what is wrong with me, but is constant pins and needles common with MS? These symptoms have only been happening for two months and apart from head and neck pain they are the only real issues I seem to be having at the moment.
Hi I do have constant pins and needles in my legs and feet and have recently been diagnosed. This is all new to me too so not sure how it is for others. Hope you get your answer sorted
Hi- I had optic neuritis in December 2015 and was officially diagnosed in Monday this week after another couple of strange symptoms. I’m still well though, and it’s not stopped me in any way at all, so long may that continue !
What you need to keep in your mind is that there are many diseases that share symptoms with MS. So while pins and needles and altered sensations are common with MS, the same could be said for other diagnoses.
For example, a Vitamin B12 deficiency can also give you pins and needles along with other neurological symptoms. Since you have a while to wait for your neurology appointment, if you’ve not already been tested for B12, see your GP and ask for a blood test.
There are still other diagnoses sharing symptoms with MS, so don’t get too despondent while you wait for your appointment.
Hello Sue, all my bloods have come back ok including B12, I just don’t feel right and these constant feelings are really getting me down. Of course I am guessing as to what is wrong but can’t get it out of my head that it isn’t going to be something easy to deal with.
Hey. I have my first neurologist appointment in a month so don’t have any kind of diagnosis yet. What you’re experiencing sounds incredibly similar to my symptoms. Initially I had the numbness, ‘fiszy’ sensation and pain in my hands so was tested for carpel tunnel but, the tests said that wasn’t what it was. I had a period where the symptoms went away but then it came back in my hands and that time in my feet and legs. I also get some slight numbness in my face. I’m on my third notable period of these symptoms and each time I get them they’re slightly different. I also had blood tests which came back with no clues, my B12 levels were fine although I’ve been taking a large dose of supplements just in case. I hope you get to the bottom of what is causing you the discomfort and solidarity.
