Hi all, I’m just in the process of getting a nailed on diagnosis and waiting for the results of my lumbar puncture after having various scans that have confirmed a small number of lesions in certain areas of head and spine.
Current diagnosis states Central Demyelination and Relapsing/Remitting MS, pending on LP results (still getting my head around what these mean).
I’m also suffering with my digestion and terrible stomach cramps, again when visiting the GP recently she says these symptoms are common in people with MS. They’ve prescribed me Laxido to take daily and I’ve also upped my Vit D to 4,000 IU a day.
Does anyone else suffer with their digestion and do you find any particular diet or natural supplements help? I know it’s a sensitive subject…
I think a lot of people have ibs with ms. I know I do. Most of mine is diet controlled. You learn what you can and can’t have or can have but suffer afterwards. I try to stick to a paelo diet with fasting added in when I don’t have a large work load. Hope this helps. I’ve done a ton of research on diets and ms etc etc but ultimately everyone is different and everyone’s bodies responds differently. Happy to help if you have any more questions. Good luck with diagnosis
I am sorry that you are heading towards dx. A relief, in its way, but not good news by any stretch.
If your gut is sluggish and inclined to constipation, and the usual dietary suggestions aren’t doing the trick, you might try Dulcosoft, an OTC stool-softener - I have found it gentle and effective, even at a low dose. The active ingredient is macrogol 4000 - similar but not quite the same as some of the stuff you get on prescription - and it comes as a clear and perfectly palatable liquid, not those vile sachets of powder.
