High I am new and looking for advice.
I have suffered with pins and needles in my hands, face basically all over, I get a sharp pain in my head, my fingers go numb and curl in this can last for minutes to hours. I have had a mri and waiting on results. I received this letter I don’t really understand does it indicate it’s not MS?
Thank you to any one who can advise me. I also get a lot of swelling in my left leg and both ankles hurt. My hands hurt nearly every time I use them.
Hello
I’ve just realised, I replied to your other post, but this one was posted first!
I don’t think the letter says either that you have or have not got MS. Most of the neurological exam was ‘normal’, just a couple of differences between right and left side. (I’m not an expert, so I could be wrong, someone else will no doubt put me right.)
I suspect that you’ll be waiting for your next appointment to get any further results, unless your MRI scan shows anything obviously indicating demyelination. In which case you’ll either get a letter reporting the MRI results to you (and your GP) or your next appointment will be brought forward. Since your next (phone) appointment is due in 3 months, the chances are you’ll be waiting for that.

Ask your GP to translate. I don’t know why they bother sending doctor-to-doctor letters to civilians like us - it’s in their specialist shorthand and we are not the intended audience. It isn’t just you - letters like that do not make much sense without expert translation.

AS others have said who knows.
I did note this though.
Looks like he is checking for anything metabolic. YOU have got MRI results back now which was done to rule in or out anything ? demylination…as i read it.
so sorry hun sit on hands now and you will have to wait for the letter for results or you will get a phone call. did you have your appointment Private i cant remember if you did you will get told sooner rather then later. xx
the findings i would suggest he is pointing toward PERHAPS metabolic. xx
