Arrgghh. This chuffin heel pain has driven me nuts lately.
It’s a chronic pain, so I am upping the amitriptyline, by 25mg at night.
It’s a tightening of the skin around my heels and on top of my feet.
Plus they can’t bear touching the bed, so I have them on a pillow, with heels suspended. But the pillow gradually softens and then I have pain again.
A couple of years ago, I tried pregabalin and it caused weight gain and made me feel sad.
So I’ve been wondering what to do? Then last night I took the extra amitriptyline, earlier than my usual night meds. It eased the pain within about 25 mins.
That’s 'orrible Poll. Yes, increase the Amitriptyline. Get a firmer pillow to put your feet on so it takes longer for the heels to hit the bed?
Are there any other drugs that would help? I can’t think of anything apart from Amitriptyline. I was told to take it at least a couple of hours before bed, I now take one 10mg at about 3pm, two at about 8pm then another one just before sleep, so they keep working a bit longer. What dosage are you at now? I’m sure you can go up quite high with Amitriptyline, so long as you take them early enough so they don’t make you too groggy the next day.
I’ll keep my fingers crossed that it all works ok tonight.
I have exactly the same trouble, ooooo when my heels touch the matteres burn.
Have had a couple of heated arguments with the wife after a few sleepless nights and unable to get to sleep because as you say the pillows proping my feet up slowly sinks.
I now sleep on my recliner settee and my feet at the heels just hang over the edge so nothing touches them.
That made the missus sound horrible but there is nothing further from the truth, it;s a difficult problem to understand if you haven’t suffered from it add to that sleepless nights and continual burning.
She’s happy for me to increase the amitriptyline by 25mg a night. Just taken it before the usual nighttime meds. Ssssu’s advice to take it earlier could be right.
I’m also back on quinine, to see if it helps.
Waiting for ot’s input whenever she appears, re equipment. Reluctant to buy owt, as I’ve wasted so much money on other stuff, over the years, which hasn’t been the wisest option.
sorry i can;t add to any posts to help you my friend, but i am posting a ‘fingers crossed’ that it helps you sleep. i am on baclofen which i needed to take a 4th one at about 4am as leg was agony. am on pregabalin too but not noticed any weight gain, mind you after the first ton its hard for me to notice any difference ;0)
Hi, last night I was woken in the small hours, by a foot pain. Just beyond the heel…it was touching summat it didn`t like. I tried to wriggle it away, to no avail.
But arent I daft, my carer was doing a sleepover and I shoudve woken her. But I didn`t want to disturb her.
She told me off this morning, when I told her, as she is here to help me.
Anyway, before that happened, my legs and feet did feel better, with the extra meds.
