just read all the previous posts and there is nothing wrong with being doubtful/sceptical of new users of the MS Forum who ask for something without building any rapour/trust with us. You both clearly know so much and I could never attempt to participate on a conversation or discussion at this level.
I have to run with a gut instinct and for the moment I will delay signing your petition Martin until I feel more informed. Looks like I need to do some reading, in the meantime Martin, I do wish you and your Mum well.
Whilst not wishing to enter into the cannabis debate it is untrue to say that nobody has died as a result of cannabis. Although rare it does happen. 2004 coroner recorded death due to cannabis toxicity and in October last year woman died again coroner recorded cannabis toxicity. Obviously dosage not known to us although the latter said only half a joint in an evening to help her sleep. David Raynes (National Drug Prevention Alliance) admits its rare for coroners to record it as such. I take an interest purely because I used to do legal work for āReleaseā drug addiction charity.
OK, so I read the last post from Martin (sorry I left the āsā off, btw) and really did not know whether to laugh or cry.
Anyone reading the whole thread will know that I queried if this was one person or part of a very organised campaign to legalise the substance known a āpotā. No āfeelings of unresolved angerā were involved, but most of us can recall several instances of someone signing up to the forum and immediately posting on a contentious issue. Mostly, but nowhere near always, it has been for fitted kitchens (and if they appear before the mods catch them I do report them).
The responses from Martin do seem to come from someone with a high degree of political expertise. Thatās expertise as in ādo not answer the points raised, just attack the person who raised themā. Then, trot out a load of āfactsā to make the subject of the exercise appear as innocuous as possible.
Yes, Martin, I am quite sure that you know the difference between Cannabis , and Cannabis Sativa. Others may not.
The first one was the fibre that Henry Ford used (not for the chassis of the Model T, but for the body), the second is the one that can be used to produce the well known psychoactive substance (otherwise a drug). Hemp was often used for a rope material until superceded by Manilla. To claim that Hemp is OK because Henry Ford used it is a tactic well known to political Press Officers everywhere. It does not prove that Cannabis the drug is not harmfull, only that Cannabis as Hemp does produce fibres that can be used as the basis for moulded panels (just like glass-fibre) and a Hemp base for mouldings is used for moulded panels in the automotive industry to this day (certainly by Mercedes, to my knowledge)
To claim that there is no evidence for the adverse psychological effects of Cannabis the drug, and when confronted with the evidence, to proceed to rubbish psychologists without addressing the evidence, is another well known political tactic.
To suggest that I have sought to attack you from the very beginning is somewhat disingenuous. Unless, of course. you are suggesting that you only joined this forum to try to promote the legalisation of cannabis the drug - in which case it would be the case that all I did was to raise a query as to the basic motivation for that first post.
I am greatly concerned by your assertion that this is the wrong place for messages to attract people to participate in the democratic processes of this country.
Many people with MS have for years been forced to use illegal sources for something they find helpful, a version of this is now legally available but as with most licenced products they then become rationed on the basis of cost.
I would remind you that we have no evidence you have the qualification you say you have, the point is we have no evidence you do not and if we did it would be proper to take that up with the moderators for their judgement.
Similarly if you actually have evidence for your assertions please take it up with the moderators. If you do not support the legalisation of cannabis do not sign the petition, that is what democracy is about.
Signed and shared on fbook. I am taking so many drugs that arenāt entirely effective and make me feel āout of itā, perhaps a chcoclate brownie could replace some of the drugs I take that surely cannot be good for me. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Signed and shared. I am a supporter of the legalisation of Cannabis. I use it regularly and it works for me. I find if I stop using it, my symptoms come back with a vengeance. But it isnāt for everyone, and this is the reason the law needs looking at. It should be MY choice what I use to control my symptoms, and prescribed medication scares the bejesus out of me with all the side effects they can have. To each their own.
Geoff is right about one thing. I do have quite a knowledge of politics, mainly because I spend a lot of my time helping people out of some very sticky situations. I did a number of courses at the open university regarding basic law, not a degree in law but courses that I could continue on to do a bachelors in law (my degree is actually in engineering but i just did these courses because it was cool) . I am actively involved with a number of political groups and committees. Including one that is actually looking into better support for carers in Scotland. As im sure everyone can understand. Being a carer 24/7 is basically moments of everything happening at once followed by long periods of extreme boredom. So yeah! I do get politically active, I am actually saddened that more people donāt because you cant change the system if you dont tell it what it is doing wrong. Iāve also self represented myself in 3 different cases. 2 against banks who tried to screw over my mother when she began showing signs of cognitive and executive reasoning impairment and one against the inland revenue for trying to take me to court - when they lost my tax return and decided to send me an āestimated billā. It said āwe estimate you owe us Ā£500ā. The reason that ended in court is because I wrote across the front āI estimate I owe you **** all!ā and sent it back to them. Not my smartest moment but the sheriff sided with me and told them where to go.
I actually love politics, its great fun and if at the end of the day you can make a wee change to the lives of others then thats even better.
I think the golden rule is, and some may disagree (some already have) that if you have an issue, political or otherwise and you know a group might have something to say about it - then inform them and let them choose.
This post was never intended to be what it became through a direct attack from someone who shall remain nameless. It was meant to be a "Hiā¦does this interest youā¦if so coolā¦if not coolā¦).
I would like to thank everyone on here for at least taking the time to look - thats cool too btw
Pardon the cools - pulled a muscle in my back lifting mum and the docs got me on some muscle relaxants that have hit me like a bulldozer. You could hit me with a shovel and im that chilled out i dont think i would notice. lol
