Hi, whilst I always feel better after a massage, I read somewhere that it can bring on a spasm, so it would be best to get some professional advice as you say.
I’ve found an hour’s worth of reflexology, working slowly, slowly, on my feet is amazing. I have gone there with feet like lumps of lead and rigid legs. After an hour of gentle working, relaxing soft music and dimmed lights, I come away pretty certain I could run if I tried!! A wondeful Feel Good factor too.
I have had MS for 25years and suffer chronic pain in both knees. I cannot walk more than 10 yards without resting.I have a massage for 30 minutes at our local leisure centre. I have hot stones and hot oil therapy. It doesn’t help me walk but is a treat to have. Check with the masseur .I don’t think it would be dangerous to you condition.
I find that a Shiatsu massage compliments my Physio and exercise. The person who does mine is highly trained and understands anatomy and physiology very well. Whilst Neither of us is into the “space cadet” spiritual bit , she can move my body correctly in ways I can no longer do myself. This loosens up stiff limbs and stretches unused muscles.
I have RRMS and I have nerve severe nerve painstaking. find it very painful when anything or anybody touches my skin. I suppose that’s why I need so many painkillers to help with neuropathy . So you have to assess the scale of nerve damage yourself.
