Boyfriend MRI clear - Please advise further actions

Hi Everyone,

I posted a few weeks back regarding my boyfriend believing he has MS, we recently got results back from an MRI to state everything was normal, now i know he still doesnt believe this as he is pretty sure something is wrong, below im going to write a list of problems he has mentioned to me, could anyone guide me with what to do next, also recently he has started chating hes teeth pretty loud and hard when falling to sleep along side twitching which he has had for a long time, he is fine once asleep deeply.

  • Shaking when doing weights recently
  • pins and needles in legs and arms
  • calf pain ( numbness also sometimes )
  • When gripping something it causes cramp
  • muscles ache easy and loose power
  • Dizzy
  • Muscle loss ( which i put down to him loosing a lot of weight - he measures them and they have lost half an inch in the last year? )
  • Vision ( we had vision test and pictures behind the eye taken - all fine )
  • dribble sometimes - when speaking he spits sometimes - but i do this?
  • hes jaw aches when singing and eating

sorry if i didnt mention but his older brother has severe MS and sometimes he has the same problems which then he starts to get even more worried about, i suppose im kind of struggling to help him now :frowning: he gets really down.

Thank you in advance and i appreciate anything to help.

The chomping when going off to sleep is normal, don’t worry about that. Regarding the rest, they could easily be caused by something other than MS, so I would suggest going back to the GP, and see what they have to say about it, it may be that he needs a referral to a different specialist or that there are things the GP can do to help. I agree with you that it looks like there is something for your boyfriend to be concerned about, but I agree with Leah it could be any one of a number of things.

You say you’ve had the results of an MRI scan: have you seen the specialist to discuss them, or have you just had a letter? I think you really need to see the doctor who ordered the scan, if you haven’t already, and ask what his thoughts are on causes of your bf’s symptoms, given the MRI was normal.

If you have seen him and got nowhere, go and see the GP.

Good luck.

Has he had his b12 levels checked??
