Hello there. I just wanted to let you know about my experience of the baclofen pump. I had a huge relapse in April 2012. Severe spasms crippled my lower spine, hips and pelvis rendering me completely unable to walk, a bladder in severe retention and pain beyond belief. I was on 120mg baclofen a day, gabapentin, clonazepam, diazepam etc. Unfortunately after intense care and Physio on a rehab ward I was deemed as too disabled to ever walk again and told I would need to move into a nursing home (I was 45 years old) and would have to sell my house to pay for it. Fortunately for me a professor heard of my situation and to cut a long winded story short I had an intrathecal baclofen pump fitted in October 2012 and left hospital in November able to walk after 32 weeks in hospital! I now live on my own (my husband left me as my ms progressed in 2011 after 25 years) and haven’t looked back. Don’t get me wrong, my life isn’t easy but it is amazing and I love every minute of it all the more because so much of my pain has gone and I never lose sight of the fact that I could be so very much worse off. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Susie
