Hi everyone I experienced what the doctor has called a MS hug for the first time i (I haven’t yet been diagnosed and I’m still waiting on my results from my spinal mri) It shouldn’t be called a hug, I felt like I was being strangled and crushed and couldn’t eat my Shepherds pie! Anyway - I’m in baclofen to stop muscle spasms and for the most part they work. I am also on tramadol and gabapentin (gaba is for seizures) and my tingling increases as the day goes on and the fatigue is really bad about 4/5pm (5hrs after taking) my hands also spasm really bad and my thumb feels like it’s pulsing when I’m using thm. Anyone else on baclofen and able to tell me if they had any strange interactions or if these symptoms are all wonderful progression?
I can’t offer much I’m afraid other than to say that my first experience of Baclofen was a debilitating degree of sedation and low mood. Felt like a zombie and apparently looked like one too.
That was 5mg three times per day. I have tried them again to get on top of the muscle spasms - MS hug and waking up in the night bent backwards like I was possessed. Now on 10mg three times per day and just getting a bit of sedation.
Not personally had anything like your symptoms. Might be an interaction with other meds. Definitely worth getting in touch with your GP or MS team (if you have one).
Not on baclofen but have had 5 months of hand cramps several episodes a day and then I get a few clear days. The pains go into my arms too.I haven’t as yet Got the MS diagnosis.awaiting brain scan results.MRI spine showed nerve compression at lumbar 5 but no plaques or lesions of spine.I have foot drop, tight calfs and night time calf cramps…vile! Anyone else struggling with hand or calf cramps and any ideas how to relieve them welcome.
Thought I would update. I am now off Baclofen and on Tizanidine 2mg twice a day. I wear an apple watch due to the in built fault detector and it altered my emergency contact to check on me as my heart had dropped below 45bpm - I was asleep but it definitely gave us a fright. Doctor said due to the other medication I was taking Baclofen would not have been a good fit. Great knowing I won’t die in my sleep, not with the legs jumping all over the place anyway. I find a hot shower before bed, get the water as warm as you can -and hold it against the back of your leg, not close enough to burn. I have no other suggestions and a jack daniels and coke appears to be frowned upo.
Hi This is my first post on here. I was diagnosed with MS on Friday. My neurologist called me yesterday to advise I had been passed on to an MS specialist. I have been prescribed baclofen and I should be able to collect it tomorrow. Im a bit worried now after reading ur comments. Ive been told I have a spastic gate and my right leg is stiff x
