Is the Babinski test still effective if your feet are numb? Last time my Neuro did it I had no feeling whatsoever in my feet. Thanks
Good question! I have no idea. Being logical, I suppose it doesn’t matter. Either there will be no response (which is abnormal) or, if the reflexes are still working, your foot will do its own thing, even if you can’t feel it.

what does it mean if you have no reflex in your legs or feet Karen?
Thx Gill
Thank you for replying Rizzo. My toes didn’t move at all do you know what it might mean I’m not diagnosed at the moment.
Decreased reflexes can mean different things depending on what bit of the body is and how it is tested, but I don’t know very much about them. This seems a good summary though: http://www.dartmouth.edu/~dons/part_1/chapter_8.html#chpt_8_pathological
Interestingly, it mentions that superficial reflexes (which includes Babinski) “can be abolished by… destruction of the sensory pathways from the skin that is stimulated.” This means that numb feet will have no response.

That’s really interesting thanks. He said I had brisk reflexes as well but my brain Mri was clear. I don’t have any more appointments so I don’t think anything else is going to be done.
