At last a Neuro who does understand!

Just come back from my annual trip to see the consultant neuro. l have had ms for 30yrs - after diagnosis l went 26yrs before seeing another - so for the last 4yrs l have had an annual appointment and seen someone different each time. This is the first time l have actually met one that knows anything about ms and its problems. He is all for me taking LDN - knows the benefits and also the same with Sativex. He could not understand why l had never seen a MS Nurse or had neuro-physiotherapy. So he is arranging this for me. He discussed seeing a orthotist about my foot-drop. l use a SAFO - but would like to be able to try a WalkAide - this all depends on ‘funding’ - but at least the cogs are now moving. l have a date for my ‘hip replacement op’ early April - so he could see how important it is for me to be able to walk better with my ms leg. He was surprised that l walked [with a rollator] at all seeing as my ms leg has no movement at all and l have to hitch up and drag it along. So its wait and see and hope he is going to set things in motion.

And there was me thinking ‘this is going to be another waste of time’.

Good news F. I had my best neuro appointment in 12 years in December with a lady registrar who actually told me about vit D3,to get it off t’Internet and we chatted about things no neuro had ever mentioned before. She said,“She was the New Generation”,and it sounds like your bloke is too.

Splendid,

that’s brilliant after all that time, heres hoping you continue to see him eh? I must admit my first neuro was ok but my MS nurse was always in the room and everytime you asked a question she would draw you a dirty look as if to say how dare you ask anything! But I moved house in June last year and my new nuero and MS nurses (yes I actually have two) are brilliant, can’t fault them at all. I just wish everone else got the same treatment

am delighted to hear that someone is listening to what you say rather than them hearing what they want to!
