Hi, I have already been diagnosed with antiphospholipid syndrome in my 20s Im now 45 and now being tested for ms as well, mri shows lesions and significant changes to my brain but lumber puncture was inconclusive, been told Im more complex as the aps can mimic ms, just wondering if anyone else has both aps and ms and how did they confirm ms, its been nearly a year since I had an attack that started all of this but Im no closer to getting any answers and waiting for appointments with the neurologists are taking months in between each test just feeling frustrated as would like an answwr and possible treatment options
Hi,
I was diagnosed with aps 12 years ago. The neurologists at the hospital took a couple of years to confirm aps over ms. This was based on LPs, VEP, pattern of brain lesions (vascular and inflammatory lesions are impossible to distinguish apparently) and my clinical response to warfarin (no new lesions for years). My neurologist also said they can be indistinguishable clinically but the two couldn’t occur together. Hopefully that’s true.
