I am sad because I am missing my tortoise who is in hibernation now She will be out in March. I will be glad when I get her out of the beer fridge and see her again. It is really true the animals give me a reason to live.
I am glad that I have other animals while she is away, a mouse, 2 rats and a spiny mouse who is a little pain that he chews the bars when it is dinner time. I also have a dog who always wants attention but not around the rodents as she is a ratter!
i used to have a rat called rufus but im not aloud another as my girlfreind dosnt like them. And i am rarther jelouse of your tortoise But tbh i dont nead any more pets i have lots in my house and more at my mums lol. I have 2 snakes a bearded dragon a geko a cat a house rabbit fish and am now wanting an alskan malamute (dog) very large dog infact. If i had the money i would open a zoo just so i could have more animals and not have to worry about space.
I Love beared dragons! they are like if a dog was a reptile! I wanted an Malamute but like a husky they tend to need 2 hours walk a day so I had to give that idea up when my MS got worse…
I am cutting down on the amount of pets I have now so this is the min I have ever had in my life.
im at the most iv had at the moment and im not going to let my ms stop me getting more the only thing thats stopped me is space lol my mum keeps saying she will take my beardie of my hands if i want more space but that kinda defets the object of having pets if their at my mums lol my heart is set on the malamute and im working on the theory if my ms gets too bad i can get a second and they can become my primary mode of transport lol both my mum and girfreind think its a bad idea im the only one who seams to thik its a great idea
Wow! you lot do have a lot on your hands. I`ve just got little Lucy, our 13 yr old toy poodle. She takes a lot of looking after and has a costly vet account!
I do like to look at snakes and bearded dragons, but dont think i`d like one in the house.
Watched a tv prog recently called Britain`s Biggest Pets. Anyone see it?
girl had a huge boa snake and it didnt want to come out of its tank to go to the vets. It went for its owner and the vet. Girl`s mum said she has to get a new home for it. it was capable of swallowing its owner and her mum!
I and my husband love cats and if I was ever lucky enough to win the lottery I would build a massive cat rescue centre, trouble is I wouldn’t ever want to rehome them as I would get too attached!! I only have 2 cats at the moment, one is a maine coon cross called Raggy, he’s a bit grumpy and actually growls at people if he’s in one of his moods and the other one is a " diva " ginger and white short haired female called Florrie. She has real attitude and just loves to eat us out of house and home. I would hate to be without a cat as they have such great characters and are so clever. When our two finally pass away in the hopefully distant future then I’ve got my heart set on having a british blue shorthair, they are so lovely.
Yes I do admit vet bills are there and I have the highest ones for the rats and mice and the tortoise and dog hold their own.
Rats and mice get sick so very easy and need the most speical care which people would never think.
MS43 Yes I have seen that some people do get the madest animals for pets that should not be pets in the first place.
In my college course when I used to go, Someone brought there pet snow owl which was too much of a handful so they gave it to the college.
Then the other one was a monitor lizard which they handed over to the college because it was not a pet at all! We all took turns in giving it 2 walks outside a day on a harness! They also have alot of bad bacteria in there mouth so you need to avoid getting bitten, so not a pet at all!
I see there is alot of cat fans I am after a certain cat at the mo which may interest people, they have thumbs and play like a puppy they are a Pixie Bob!
They are small but have short tail like there Bob cat relatives, they are friendly if trained from a kitten and loyal.
As for malamute like the Akita they are not as strong or wild minded as the husky, so they wont pull a slay as well, but you can try.
I REALLY REALLY want a rabbit. I dont know why but I have just become obsessed with the idea over the last year. However, my fella says no ‘cause it’ll just die one day’. I have promptly pointed out that he also will die ‘one day’ but I still adopted him and let him move in
A valid point I feel!
I think i may have edged closer to bunny ownership
Love my cat, he cuddles me every day, have been thinking about going into sheltered housing recently but I hope I am able to stay here for at least his lifetime as I don’t believe that you can keep pets in that kind of residence. As you say they do give you something to live for. I don’t like him catching little critters though and have rescued a pigeon and a mouse.
[/quote] Lol, no one. Sitting in my garden at present just looking for a new home. We’ve named them (male and female - spayed ? Or the rabbit equlivient ) Daisy and Duke. Need a new home though as we have to move and not sure about them, ie if they’ll be allowed at our new place.
