Am I a vulnerabel person

Hello

Has anyone received a letter from the government saying they are a vulnerable person

Because I have not.

Bertie

Hello Bertie.

I have received the letter. I think it’s because I’m at stage 4 cancer as well as MS. It’s not given me much in itself. I’m having a real battle to get priority for my usual online supermarket which is a bit crucial. There may need to be an assertive phone call. I get a daily text reminding me to be safe and that’s it. Despite how tough we’ve needed to be, all of us are vulnerable. My friends and others have been fantastic which has been of more benefit than the letter.

Best wishes.

Bertie, Ms alone doesn’t mean that Coronavirus is very dangerous to us, the authorities made a list of extremely vulnerable people which doesn’t include any neurological conditions.

we are vulnerable as MS is a risk factor so it’s important that we do everything everyone else is doing but more. I’ve got other risk factors as well as MS but I haven’t had a letter either so no support for me.

you could google your council’s name and the words “Coronavirus community support hub” you might find something useful there.

Bl**dy hell, Steve, take care!

On the UK government website it’s hard to find MS listed any more. However it is much clearer on the Scottish NHS website, which is still UK policy. We are ALL in the ‘Higher risk of severe illness’ (or vulnerable) category. Some people with further complications or further underlying issues are in the ‘Extremely high risk of severe illness’ (or extremely vulnerable) category. These people in this second category are the ones who should be shielded and be eligible for things like priority online shopping slots

Steve, what’s your nearest supermarket? Because i was just looking at Sainsbury’s and under the supporting elderly & vulnerable customers, they specifically say you should be prioritised. You should definitely call them, and don’t be afraid to call them every day until you get a slot: https://www.sainsburys.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/gb/groceries/working-to-feed-the-nation-/latest-information–?storeId=10151&langId=44&krypto=66pKEgZdYPx8ECzZBmIEJVm0s9ypKheeRezXEflSCalm493DQZGHMco6kXXJTGerF6auDvv4GuoFZpikf7TvpIacTN9qDjENJ%2Bsh1FVY6q%2BtLEZAqM0LLHu6LJmH%2BwJz1QuQJBoRBk1fi7DTscikoez8lEER%2BEVJhCibthMFJxIrS2yvo%2Fk%2Fq5dwCX1dTE6%2B&ddkey=https%3Agb%2Fgroceries%2Fworking-to-feed-the-nation-%2Flatest-information–

and even if Sainsbury’s is not your nearest supermarket, they have specified that the UK government shared that info with them. So I would expect all supermarkets now have details of the extremely vulnerable category. So whomever your supermarket is, I would chase them

Finding this whole vulnerable person rather confusing. I got asthma and MS still can not get an delivery spot with Sainsbury. Cant even get through to them.

you should write to CEO of the suprmarket you use. send them copy of letter. I hit the riot act with mine and i dont get a letter just told them straight how it was lol. i get regular slots now, after the higher risk have had theirs. you should be a priority. xxx

We are vulnerable at risk. we are not on gov list but we are NHS list.

i use sainsburys i wrote to their CEO as they didnt have me on the list. i sent them proof, and now i get regular slots after the higher at risk have had theirs.

I sent them a copy of my PIP certificate and also a letter my doctor wrote for me about how my PPMS effects my health and how i dont go out etc. it seemed to work.

I’ve now got access to all the slots available with Sainsbury. Just filled in the required information online. Only needed a previous order number for shopping. They must do all the checks. Now I don’t have to go out and mingle with the so called immune germ ridden public this hot weekend. I’m staying in like a good boy.

Got one of the extremely vulnerable letters today, THB I wasn’t expecting one. Sainsbury’s website says it cant identify me as a vulnerable person from the info supplied by the Government using my email address as the source of the search. Looks like I’m expected to stay in for twelve weeks with no access to online shopping

Sainsburys take their list from the data sent by gov.uk and they don’t consider MS as “extremely vulnerable” We only qualify cuz my partner has kidney disease and even then, still waiting “we will phone you whe we get your details…” Dream on.

Oscar give Sainsburys a ring 0800 028 8303/0800 953 4988 I had trouble getting a delivery slot so I gave them a ring, they asked me if I had a nectar card linked to my account if not they needed my last order number. I to say they had identified me as vulnerable, and available slots would be visible to me in 24 -48, only allowed 1 delivery per week. Hope this helps you or anyone else.
