Advice on fatigue medication

My worst symptom is fatigue. I’m hoping that I can speak to my neurologist at the end of this month and get started on some kind of treatment for my fatigue. I’d like any recommendations and knowledge as to what is best and side effects please.

Hi, the one thing I find that helps my fatigue is hyperbaric oxygen therapy. You can check online to see if there is an MS Centre with oxygen therapy near you.

Fatigue is such a challenging symptom to manage because it affects everything. It is definitely worth discussing with your neurologist; they might suggest options like Amantadine or Modafinil, or even look into pacing strategies. Hope your appointment goes well and you find some relief soon!

Many years ago when I was still working I took modafinil, and felt that it helped keep me going for a few years although tbh when I stopped it I didn’t feel much difference. I don’t think it’s a popular as it used to be and am not sure that it’s even licensed for MS fatigue, so might have been an off-label ‘some patients seem to find this helpful’ sort of prescription. If I was struggling that’s what I would want to try. Pharmacologically, there’s really naff all else that I’m aware of apart from amantadine which I haven’t tried but have never heard anyone say anything good about.
