This is a question for those with foot drop. I often feel that I can’t feel my feet properly. I can walk around but turning my feet 360 degrees using my ankles takes more effort than it should. My balance is slightly off. My feet feel honey when the touch the floor as if some of the padding is gone. Some days my hands feel odd too. It is an effort to completely stretch them out flat. Not a massive effort. Just not normal. My chest muscles and jaw muscles are also so stiff. Did you just have foot drop one day or was it a gradual thing, a lessening of feeling day by day? Thanks. Worried. =(=(=(
For me it was a sudden thing, which would come and go over a few weeks but initially it just happened, no warning or build up. Physio, pilates and walking as much as I can helps me. I still fall over my feet, but that is mostly due to having no feeling in them rather then them drooping or not working at all. Heat I find can cause foot drop to flair back up with me, or when I am tired. See about getting in contact with physio in your area for possible help?
mine had sort of crept up on my very slowly. Mine is a spastic foot drop caused by the calf muscles being too tight.

Hi mine came on gradually, but over a relatively short time…if that makes sense! The first thing I noticed was a heavy leg, like I was dragging a piece of wood as I walked. Then I tripped up steps and then over nothing…classic foot drop.

Mine came on quite suddenly over the course of a week or so had 0 power in my foot couldn’t lift it off the floor at all and complete paralysis of my toes all pretty scary!!! It did resolve tho I was able to walk after about 6 wks without falling over! I had to drag my foot for a while! Left with residual damage and a slight limp which is worse the further I walk but thankfully a lot better than it was that was back in 2012…I didn’t have any numbness tho just the paralysis of my foot below my ankle…hopefully yours is not a foot drop and resolves soon Take care Emma
Came on slowly for me, about 18 months. Now makes me fall more times than I care to say. Just been fitted with carbon fibre foot splint, very light and it certainly does keep foot in correct position but not used for real walking around yet. It feels as if it is going to rub on the back of the ankle, but will perservere if it helps my walking!
How did you feel before it came on, over the 18 months I mean.
