Nearly all agencies are bad news. There is the odd agency that looks after disablled people, but I cannot help there.
I’m afraid you have to do all the legwork. Phone up the HR department in each company, try to find someone in a position of importance, send them your CV, keep in touch with the company and build up a relationship. Find a way to always sound cheerful and always phone back when you say you will. Last of all, don’t get depressed.
Forest, following on from Patrick’s post above, why not just ttry phoning around local companies, explain that you have ms, are looking for part time work, be polite, you might just get something. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Cheryl:-)
Hi Forest, I work a job-share for a local council. Most of the jobs in our authority have to be advertised as suitable for job share so may be worth looking at the jobs page for your local council. ATW have agreed to pay for taxis for me when I move to a new building where I won’t be able to park. They pay the difference between the cost of a taxi and travelling by public transport. I also came across an organisation called ‘working links’ at a recent work & MS training day - see www.workinglinks.co.uk. They help people to get into work as well as staying in work.
