I shall have to start practicing my ‘fall’ I’m sure I’ll need it in the not too distant future ![]()
Thank you! I really need this and will watch and try to learn.
A decent parachute landing fall will help prevent injury, but we don’t tend to get much warning, do we.

Worth adding that if trying the rolling break fall, don’t attempt it alone. Just realised that a YT search brings up solo practitioners. I liken it to teaching a child to dive into a pool for the first time. Their instinct is to go feet first but they have to commit the head/shoulder to the movement.
The good thing about learning the rolling break fall is that it can be started from an assisted crouch or kneeling position and only extended upwards to standing once the key rotational elements have been grasped.
Good luck! ![]()
I use a cane because if I don’t I look like a drunk! It is more a balance problem for me. I do find it makes people aware I have a disability and this has been a positive thing for me. The only problem I have found is that if I actually start leaning on the stick because of pain in my legs and feet I then get muscle spasms in my hand and arm. There are some fab canes out there if you want to make a fashion statement.
whammed makes a very goo point and I suspect that learning a parachute role is more useful than a rolling break fall that Graeme and I know. I also dod parachute training and it’s incredibly useful was long as you can train yourself to keep your arms in!
Yes! I use two hiking poles, but using the arms for oomph instead of just for balance gives me tennis elbow. We can’t win, can we? ![]()
Hi Alison
I use one of these for tennis elbow and it’s always worked for me. Hope this helps
Thank you!
