Hi everyone, Was looking for a wee bit of advice. My MS nurse said to contact her if ever I needed support or advice and I don’t know if I’d be wasting her time with this one… I have one new symptom, sounds daft but sore heels? My old symptoms have calmed down a good bit but the shaky legs and cramps in calves are back? Have felt good since starting Copaxone but the past four days seem to be the worst I’ve felt for ages. The tiredness is shocking too and I feel like I might cry. Emotional incontinence to the max! Should I email my nurse about this or are these just things I should expect now and again and I’m catastrophising? Thanks Claire xxx
I know how you feel, i always feel unsure wether I should call the nurse, or if i would be wasting her time. But at the end of the day it’s their job to look out for us. we may not be the top priority every time we phone/email but at least we have made them aware and more often than not, they will get back to you ASAP. No reason to suffer on in silence. Call her, explain how you are feeling and rest if you can. Hope you feel a lit better soon. Lx
Magnesium can ease problems with spasm and cramp and worth trying before moving up to the more serious drugs. Regular stretching also helps.
How much magnesium can you take and how much are you allowed?,x
I take 375mg tablets from Healthspan, but you might need to experiment a bit to find out what works best for you. Magnesium is a beneficial mineral and the only thing I am aware of is its laxative effect in high doses. Some MSers use “Better You Magnesium Oil Spray” from Amazon, although I am sure there are other brands available.
Hi I always had this thought when I was first diagnosed. But then realised it is important to tell them, as it is a record of what’s happening even if It seems small, they can offer advice of things to try. My MS nurse enables to talk things through with her, that my gp surgery would laugh at me if I made an appointment with them. Barney
Thanks so much for your input everybody! I really appreciate it Will email my nurse in the morning. Claire xxx
Yes! Definitely tell them, they are the experts! Plus, if you’re like me, it’s hard to remember everything. So, when I saw my Neuro this week I was telling him about a symptom I’ve been having since last MRI 10 months ago. He asked when it had started and I went blank. Literally couldn’t even give him a ball park! Because I’d spoken to nurse it was fortunately on my notes! Doh! I think my memory is okay until I actually need to recall something I haven’t written down!
