Hi Everyone,
I’m due to have my first infusion of Tysabri on Thursday evening (got a cancellation)
The problem is, i’ve got a big weekend ahead (stag weekend in Newcastle) leaving on Friday and the drinking will start on the train up.
Is it safe to drink alcohol so soon after an infusion???
I’ve had a rough couple of months and have really been looking forward to this weekend away and letting my hair down.
Any words of wisdom would be appreciated.
Thanks
Hi
The thing is you never can tell how the infusions will affect you. I get absolutely shattered for 2/3 hours straight after and usually need a nap, someone in my treatmnet group gets hit with it the next day.
Someone else I know had to come off Tysabri as it made them really sick…
So I think that as much as drinking alcohol you should know that each individual is affected very differently also…
I don’t know the medical line on such a thing - but if it were me, after bombarding my body with a strange substance for the first time, I might want to be careful with alochol consumption…
Don’t want to stop your enjoyment of the weekend, lord knows I am sure you deserve it, but I would think about it carefully, and speak to your healthcare professionals for their opinion,
Good Luck
Helen
