Trouble differentiating from reality/dreams??

Anyone had this.

Really scary today. We have horses and was doing that this afternoon and seemed ok rode groomed clipped horses hairy legs

Daughter and a friend there so they never saw/said anything but my brain appears to have added bits from this afternoon .Its like a dream as in it jumps about but not a dream as in it feel like it actually happened but you know now it can’t of as doesn’t make sense but part of your brain telling you this happened . And I know it didn’t as appear to be going back in time when horses were in heavy rugs tho no snow or anything weather like it is today, then other half was there but he wasn’t he was working.

Suppose like a waking dream you know the way dreams appear to jump from scene to scene and don’t make sense when you try to piece it together but seems real and did disorientate me quite a bit still am as my brain keeps feeling like its searching for something!!!

Brain feels like mush now hard to concentrate on things and have a tingly thick feeling in back of head.

Am puting it down to a MS thing but maybe not.

Suppose as had it relatively easy with MS symptoms(drop foot/fatigue/left side weakness/spasms) but always managed to function. This was more scary as can’t get out of it if you know what I mean as still feels like those thoughts are real but logic tells you otherwise!!!

Am just at a loss now. Feel like I am going mad…literally!!!

Hi Gladys,

Are you on any medication at all? Haha - maybe a silly question, with MS - hands up who’s NOT?

It’s just that it sounds like it could be a side-effect of something you took, rather than a direct symptom of MS itself. Some drugs can cause altered states of consciousness.

When my dad was in his final illness (not MS) he was on strong painkillers, incluing morphine and amitriptyline. One day we asked him why he had not finished his lunch, and he was surprised there was still any on his plate, as in a dreamlike state, he had dreamt he’d eaten it all! At no time during this was he obviously asleep to anyone present.

We just asked: “Don’t you want your lunch, Dad?”, and he replied: “Oh! That’s strange - I thought I had already finished it!” He was still holding the plate with it on, so can’t have been completely unconscious, or he’d have dropped it.

Sounds sort of similar.

Hi Gladys, the brain is a funny thing and it seems anything is possible.I suffer from night terrors and they can be so vivid and surreal,i act things out in my sleep and start to walk about and panic. These things happen more often when i am stressed and over tired.Maybe you need to take some well earned rest

I guess you are in quite a small but lucky minority, then, Julien. True, not everyone is on medication for pain, but most people seem to be on something for something - whether it’s DMDs, spasticity, bowel or bladder problems, vertigo, whatever. I’m not on any neuropathic painkillers, and never have been, but I would not manage without stuff for spasticity these days, and I take painkillers for musculo-skeletal pain. Always the exception that proves the rule, though, as the saying goes. I’m happy there are people out there who manage OK without anything, but I don’t think there can be very many. A bit concerning that we haven’t heard anything from Gladys since. I hope she’s just doing something nice for Easter, and the strange feelings of unreality weren’t a warning of anything. Hi Gladys, I also have vivid dreams and wake up thinking it is real, but soon pull myself round.

These daydreams or whatever it is, do sound very odd. I also wonder if it is a side effect from some medication or other

Can you let us know if you are ok, hun? We are concerned for you…especially if something odd happens when you are out riding.

Hi all sorry for not getting back sooner. Thanks for replies.

Feeling better today tho am aware of waiting for ‘it’ to happen again!!Asked daughter if she noticed any difference in me as in did I blank out or anything. She said no I just kept saying I don’t feel right!

Not on any new meds. On amantadine for fatigue.

Maybe just did too much as will admit to being really bad at pacing myself.

God looking at symptoms for brain forgetfulness, word play (use wrong word for things) forgetting where I am more like early onset dementia than MS.

Maybe I’ll forget I’ve got MS then!!

oh and on baclofen which has gradually been increasing due to getting rigider and rigider!
