Tecfidera - newly diagnosed patient

New diagnosis and before diagnosis

Hi

I have just been diagnosed and researching the best treatment to start on. In thinking of going for the tecfidera. Looking at the effectiveness and side effects and feel these are the most positive. Can anyone help in advising on taking this drug?

I can only speak from my experience which is good. All I had was hot flushes which after three months have subsided. Take right after food as this helps. Good luck.

i have never been used to eating in the morning.

i had quite bad nausea at first but persevered and it is now fine.

my aunt had ms in the sixties and there wasn’t much on offer then.

so think ourselves lucky.

now i’m going for my tec

Tecfidera is in the middle between the older DMT’s and the more second line treatments Lemtrada and another who’s name escapes me… These have a higher reduction in attacks rating but have more potential side effects and risk. Tec is bang in the middle. Good luck.

I started Tec last night and had my second (lower) dose this morning. So far so good. I was really worried about starting them and all the potential side effects but all I’ve had to deal with so far is a burning/itching sensation around my neck which is totally manageable. I’ll update if anything changes. I must note that I ate a full meal yesterday evening and had breakfast this morning which I don’t usually do.
