I’ve had my catheter in now for about a month, there’s a couple of things that bug me about it and I wonder if anybody has got any tips for what I can do
I keep getting problems where the waistband of my underpants or trousers Press on the tube where it comes out of my abdomen, so I end up spasming and wetting myself via my urethra. I keep thinking that I should put something underneath the pipe to support it from below so it doesn’t get squashed. Has anybody come up with a solution?
I despise wearing jogging bottoms and would much prefer to wear jeans, so I’ve bought some jeans with a waist 4 inches bigger than I am so that they’re nice and loose, but they will look a bit ridiculous if I go out as my shirt or T-shirt won’t be able to be tucked in at all. I haven’t given up on looking good yet! Anybody got any tips on useful clothes?
I get my carers to fold the waistband of my underpants back underneath themselves so that they don’t rise up and squash the pipe, other than wearing speedos or going commando I can’t find an alternative, any advice?
A couple of times when I’ve got really wet it’s because apparently the tube has worked its way out a bit so the only way for the urine in my bladder to get out is via my urethra. I have to get the carers to push it back in, but I only know when they’ve gone far enough when it starts to hurt. I’d wondered about maybe getting a permanent marker to make a mark on the catheter so that I can see, and the carers can see more importantly, when it’s out and how far to push it back in. I wonder if any of you wonderful people have come up with a way of doing it that might make more sense?
Thank you in advance!
