stupid copaxone

Hell, just looking for tips on how to soothe red, inflamed and super itchy copaxone injection sites. Ice pack is kinda rubbish ans sudocrem does little. They’re driving me nuts! Plus I look like a weirdo constantly clawing at my thighs, ass and stomach.

Hiya

I suffered really bad site reactions when I first started Copaxone. The Copaxone Nurse came to see me because they were so bad and she said that it seemed I was a bit allergic to it and to rake a 1-a-day antihistamine for 4-6 weeks to give me body chance to get used to it.

I found that the cold pack only worked with the pain/sting after injecting, not the site reactions. I got anithistamine cream from the chemist (own brand stuff works as well as branded) and used that the next morning (I was told not to put cream over the injection site on the day that you do it). The combination of the tablets and the cream really helped sort the itchyness and swelling out. I also used Bio Oil to keep my skin in good condition, while I was having trouble with it.

Hope that helps a bit. Good luck

Sue

Post injection, E45 round the site, then Bio Oil on the other sites. By this time the E45 is absorbed so then apply bepanthen which does stop the initial itching, again round the actual injection site. I use Bio Oil twice a day. Never bothered with an ice pack

I am in the same place as you, and I find that with my dodgy thermostat as soon as I get warm they go back to huge red itchy lumps the size of a saucer up to 5 days post injection.

I have tried all the creams, ice packs help a bit but after trying all the non drowsy antihistamine tablets the gp has given me Chlorphenamine tablets…which I think is just full wack piriton.

I will let you know.
