Starting treatment - advice please

Hi all, I am 22 living in Scotland, this is my first post following my diagnosis in early June 2024 RRMS
I recently received a phone call from my consultant to tell me my choice of treatment Ocrevus (ocrelizumab) has been approved and I will receive my first infusion in a couple of weeks time

I am quite anxious about it all and don’t really know what to bring or expect and was wondering if you had any tips, advice or recommendations - thank you x

Hi @shania
Welcome. I would say along with starting DMD treatment, it’s important to maintain healthy nutrition and get regular exercise, remember for the treatment to work it still needs you to stay relatively fit.
Best,
JP

I agree. The drugs are great and powerful (and Ocrevus is a really good one), and it feels to me that we give ourselves the best chance all round by taking them and also eating well, getting plenty of exercise and fresh air, sleeping well and so on.

Hiya, totally natural to feel nervous… i’ve been getting it for about 4 years now and won’t try & tell you how to feel but practical tips? Here goes -

Try and be 1st there! if you are in a ward that way you can pick your bed/chair - sounds petty but you will be stuck there for 5 hours so choose wisely if you can…

If, like me, you feel the cold then take cosy socks, and a big scarf or blanket for comfort against the air conditioning

Take plenty of snacks, and cartons of juice, just in case you feel shaky and can’t wait for the lunch to come round.

Take a variety of entertainment, just in case you change your mind about film/music/book choice when you get there,

Wear comfy clothes

I always find the time away, when i’m unable to be contacted benefits me - like, i don’t ask for WIFI password it’s refreshing!

On the day of the infusion, i always cancel the evening/get support as i feel exhausted.

Where in Scotland you gettin it? i go to FVRH and the nurses in day medicine are AMAZING XXXX

Hope you get on ok :two_hearts:
