Hi all, after having an MRI last year the neurologist said I had 2 lesions that were age related. Was also diagnosed with a functional tremor.
After having some issues with this neurologist I asked for a second opinion. This can back to say that the weren’t happy with the shape of one of the lesions android have follow up scan of head and spine.
(Just been diagnosed with fibromyalgia)
Back for review of second scan, third lesion appears. Radiologist said something about my spinal cord but neurologist has dismissed it.
Symptoms, tingling pain throughout chest one arm and both legs, Fatigue, memory loss, low libido and a tremor in right arm (had tremor now for 2 years)
Should I get another opinion?
Emotions overload at the moment

Sorry to hear about what you are going through.
Personally, I would go back to gp or ask for another opinion if I felt I still didn’t have answers. I don’t know about fibromyalgia but have you spoken to a specialist (not sure what team) to see if there is any link with your symptoms and scan results?
In regards to findings on reports, there have been a couple of findings on mine which weren’t relevant but the radiologist included. The neurologist didnt mention them so i brought up in appointment as was worried and reassured me why for me they were not a concern (haemangioma, herniation). I could be wrong but I feel radiologists included everything they spot and then the report is off to the other teams to connect the dots.
All this to say, they are the experts but you also know how you feel. If you don’t believe you are getting enough information and clarity then may be best to follow up somehow.
Hoping you can get some clarity on this soon!!

Hi @maria86simpson , I’m just wondering when you say ‘neurologist dismissed it’ after the review of your second scan, was that the second neurologist?
I am thinking that you are obviously scared that you might have MS but so far neither of the two (?) neurologists have diagnosed this.
Apologies for the questions but I am wondering if your symptoms are all a consequence of Fibromyalgia? Have you discussed Fibromyalgia and your symptoms with anyone?
Also, did you ask the first neurologist what he/she meant by ‘age related’ lesions and in particular, is this normal for your age, and is there anything you should be doing to slow down the development of new lesions

When you feel as if you’re banging your head against a brick wall with the medics, one option is just to step back for a bit. They say Doctor Time is the best diagnostician, and it might be worth just waiting to see what happens.
Having said that, I think you should insist on having a good understanding of what they currently think the matter is.

Go for that third opinion. If a radiologist noticed something on your spinal cord and your neurologist dismissed it, you need someone who takes it seriously, especially with new lesions and worsening symptoms. Trust your gut.
