Colum - have you considered using a walking stick? I was very hesitant at first but it was a great “flag” to others that man-with-dodgy-walking-approaching.
Moyna - I try stretching the hamstrings but there’s not a lot of movement there. I started baclofen last year.
Fabs - I was very disappointed when the rollator didn’t work for me. When I tried it my walking was poor and I thought it would be of great help in keeping me mobile. Ho-hum.
Derek
I know the feeling Derek. I was getting frequent flyer points with orthotics as far as drop foot was concerned and nothing worked. Everything was either to fiddly to put on/take off or was so heavy that the weight (literally) outweighed the benefit!
Hi Derek my name is Lisa and I have the same problem it seems to be worse when I am tired. My knee won’t Bend and I have dropped foot on that side as well. My knee doesn’t hurt though. And I have the same walk that you do. It’s frustrating as hell. I am not in a wheelchair though not yet. I use the cane and a walker, most often the Walker. I have no idea how to correct this problem I do wear a brace on my right foot. Ms stinks but we have no control not yet it’s coming though I can feel it in the air.
Hi Derek my name is Lisa I have exactly the same problem drop put on right side and knee won’t Bend I am not in a wheelchair currently and it happens more often when I am tired. I don’t know how to fix this problem it’s frustrating.
Hi Derek, I have exactly the same problem. Footdrop and knee won’t bend while walking but will when I sit down.
I am constantly worried about falling especially when I’m out and about as I don’t have the strength to get up myself. I have a Velcro thing for my foot but to me it is no help whatsoever. I walk with a crutch, rollolator and am using a wheelchair more and more.
I was given exercises by a phisio and despite doing them religiously they haven’t worked. I must admit I’m getting to the point where I feel like giving up and just use the wheelchair as I am so tired even walking a few yards.
I have no pain in my bad leg but I am starting to get pain in my other knee and my balance seems to be getting worse. If you find anything at helpful that works I would be delighted to hear it.

Update from me.
Had MRI on the right knee a few months ago. Some damage to the ligaments but nothing too serious. By the time, I had my meeting with the consultant, I was completely pain free in the knee, mainly because I was hardly walking at all.
Still in the chair most of the time now,but I can walk a little bit with the crutches. Knee is sore though because of the walking (even though I’m not walking).
If I walk too much, the knee is sore. If I’m in the wheelchair or a seat for too long the right leg cramps us like mad, so I have to make sure that I walk a little bit but do it often and that I don’t sit for too long.
