Hope you are all doing good today, we have a sunny day, but very windy, good for blowing all the cobwebs out of us lol
I have, for some time, been experiencing swelling and really painful hands, wrists and ankles, and whilst having my normal high blood pressure check, mentioned this to my GP. Long story short, had tests and X-rays, and today he has telephoned to say he is referring me to a rheumatologist, as I have raised inflammatory markers, usually seen in RA.
He has said that it’s not unusual to have more than one auto immune conditions, but does anyone else have both, and if so, what is the usual treatment please.
So sorry to hear this Pam, as if you need another problem!
I just wanted to send you hugs and say I hope you get it sorted and get some relief soon!
I have arthritis, the other kind…the name escapes me at the moment and osteoporosis in my spine but not RA so can’t be of any help to you, so sorry but just wanted to lend my support,
A good friend of mine has it. She tends to be ok most of the time and then will have an ‘episode’ where her joints ache and she has bad fatigue (ha as if you need that eh?!). She tends to go to bed for a couple of days till she’s feeling better.
There are diets that apparently help, but I think like MS diets it doesn’t work for everyone. I think tomatoes and potatoes (which are both in the same veg family) can make it worse. Worth having a google.
Thank you so much for your kind words, means such a lot.
I already have osteoarthritis, and must admit didn’t say anything for a while, cos I presumed it was part of that, just goes to show we should never make presumptions.
Not looking forward to more tests and appointments, but there’s no choice, so shall have to grin and bear it. GP did say that once you have an auto immune, like ms, you can develop others, perhaps there’s some sort of connection.
Thanks for your advice, it really stops you feeling so alone with problems being on this forum, a trouble shared as they say.
This alll came about when I was having a regular high blood pressure test, and in passing I bumped my hand, GP looked and asked how long have they been swollen, quite a while I said, thinking it was just to do with the osteoarthritis I already had. As I said to Nina, just proves we should never make presumptions…another lesson learnt!
Hope you’re coping ok with the medication, and you have recovered from the treatment.
