Hi all, How to quickly get over a relapse? Numbness in legs and feet, feels like I’m walking on jelly. My balance is all over the place. Advice needed. Thanks.
Hi Rebecca
Steroids speed up the recovery time but I’m not sure if you should take them as soon as the relapse begins.
I have osteopaenia so worried about osteoporosis which means I refuse steroids.
walking on jelly! good description!!
wishing you a speedy recovery.

I usually refuse steroids as they always make me gain so much weight. I have had many a relapse but this is the 2nd one in the matter off weeks. I go on holiday in 3 days and right now I can barely walk and use everything to lean on. I’m numb from the waist down, I have no balance. I really do feel like I’m walking on jelly but have really heavy bricks as my legs. It’s a horrible feeling that I need it to go away really quickly.
Hi Rebecca,
Yes, I have similar sensory problems, have had for 30 years, in my feet and hands. I liken it to walking in the snow, mind my feet are always freezing and I get chilblains. My hands I can’t feel textures or feel temperatures so I’m extra careful with cooking… Constant tingling like pins and needles too.
One good thing is my feet aren’t ticklish so my podiatrist finds it easy to cut my nails!!
I don’t take anything for sensory, just muscle relaxants for stiffness.
Take care
Jen
