New to Copaxone injections

Hi everyone,

I have just started on copaxone injections (3rd time last night) has anyone experienced nausea straight after injection? I have had this after the last two injections.

I also injected into my thigh last night I was not able to find much flesh so turned down the Autoinject setting but it is still very sore this morning.

Any help appriciated

Thanks X

Hi Sorry no, not straight after injection. It is listed as a side effect though on the copaxone information sheet that comes with the meds. It can takes while to get injection depth right. Make sure you mention any problems like this to your support nurse if you have one. Mish x

Hi Marcie Jane

I have just been on copaxone for three months after being on rebif.

Things are definitely starting to settle down now which I was told at the beginning from the nurse which I did not believe it would but it does.I know everyone is different but my nurse told me to put autoinjecter at 10 which has helped me site does not get so red.I also find messaging the area with a good moisturizer really helps as it gets rid of the lumps quicker plus you could also try a cool pack after injecting.I also find the thighs are the worst areas to do so I only use them if I have to.

Hope this helps if you have any more questions you can pm me.

Keep positive Anne.

Hi, just a suggestion, I give my thighs a miss now, because there is so little fat there, I ended up with mild lipoatrophy. Instead the teva nurse suggested more fleshy areas such as so called ‘love handles’. I have no pain when injecting there. I also had a problem injecting the backs of my arms, there is very little fat there and ended up with an indentation, so I also give that area a miss. I wish I’d contacted the teva nurse when I first started copaxone, their suggestions of different areas and techniques are very helpful. I also take a weeks supply out of the fridge at a time, I found even after a couple of hours, the injections were cold enough to be painful. I hope that helps.

Hi, also, autoinjector 10 seems quite high, I only use 8, but on thighs I would say 6 is deep enough. Again, only a suggestion, and it really does depend on weight and preference.

Thanks to all for comments. I have tried the other thigh with the autoinjector on a lower setting seemed to help a bit. Working on basis that the more I do the easier it will become.

I am still new to MS as only diganosed October last year after several months of symptoms. Reading the various forum postings has really helped me and my partner.

hi marcie jane

i’ve been on copaxone for 5 years now.

at first i was rotating the sites as instructed but now i only do my left arm, the sides of my hips and my buttocks.

this is because the other sites were painful and my hands used to freeze as though they didnt want to do it.

i asked my ms nurse and she said that as long as i was doing daily injections it was ok.

so now i have a lot of dimples and dents on my bum!
