MS-UK Chat room Session

Hi , my wife has chronic head pain 24/7, she has tried all the drugs that has been suggested but nothing helps , can anyone help, bob

Hi Bob I am so sorry to hear about your wife and I really hope she gets some relief soon!! Unfortunately I don’t have any advice, but there is a plethora of experience on here and somebody is bound to be able to help. To make sure you get that help I wanted to respond to let you know that you have attached your question to an old thread so I was worried it may be over looked. If you go to the first page of the everyday living forum there is a tab at the top that says ‘new thread’.it may be worth you doing that and starting your own fresh thread for people to see and respond to. Welcome to the forum! X

Hi I’m looking for some help, I had scans for headaches back in 2011 This was the feedback Sent from my BlackBerry® wireless device -----Original Message----- From: [removed by moderator].Date: Wed, 2 Nov 2011 18:26:49 To: Subject: Re: Mri scan Miss Brown Below is scan report I received today. The good news is that there is no sinister cause for your headaches on the scan. The relevance of the findings mentioned is far from clear, but I am satisfied they are not the cause of your headache, and do not really mean anything as you have no symptoms that might be related to them. Whether they will ever mean anything is also unknown, but there is no treatment that is required. I would be happy to meet up with you and go though results in more detail if that would help, and you could simply make an appt, but I would not propose to investigate this further. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MRI ASSOCIATES [removed by moderator]. atTelephone: [removed by moderator].Fax: [removed by moderator].Mobile: [removed by moderator]. RS/SF/Hos no. [removed by moderator].28/10/11 Dr [removed by moderator].- 28/10/11 Clinical History Recent headache. Compare old scans please. Technique Standard protocol. Description The long TR sequences show multiple areas of deep white matter and subcortical white matter high signal. In particular there is a 7x4mm lesion lying under the left insular cortex. A second 7mm lesion is seen adjacent to the body of the left lateral ventricle. Multiple small lesions are seen adjacent to the body of the right lateral ventricle, but no posterior fossa lesions are seen and no corpus lesions are noted. The ventricular system and cisterns are of normal size and shape, there was no shift in the midline structures. The paranasal sinuses are clear. There is no evidence of restricted diffusion of any of these lesions. Comparison with the previous MR scan dated 29/09/09 indicates that the two large lesions seen in the left hemisphere are new. Opinion No cause for the patients headaches, however the new lesions, one subcortical and the other periventricular are added evidence of subclinical demyelination. They said as due to me not having any symptoms this is nothing to worry about, 8 years on and I’m still worried about the finding s of this scan I still don’t have any symptoms tho, can anyone give me there opinion Should I seek another opinion

Hi

I noticed that you’re new to the forum so you clearly haven’t figured out how best to have your questions answered.

What you’ve done is to post your question onto a thread that is both quite old and relates to something different to your question.

The best way to have your post considered and more usefully answered is to start a new thread. Possibly in the newly/un-diagnosed section of the forum. You do this by hitting the New Thread button above the list of existing threads, give your thread a relevant title and then post as you see fit.

What you have done in your post is of course to add a lot of your own personal information and the doctor’s name, etc. All of this has been removed by the moderator. You have to keep in mind that this is a public forum so anyone can read it, personal info will be removed by moderators as well as specific details about named doctors. The way it’s been moderated therefore makes it quite hard to read.

With regard to your question, if you don’t have any symptoms, and the neurologist was unconcerned about the scan, personally, I would try to forget the issue. If you develop symptoms, then get your GP to refer you to a neurologist.

Aww oops I thought I had deleted that thanks for your help

Hi so I care for my dad that has secondary progressive ms. He was diagnosed at 22 he is now over 60 . He has no use of his legs and lost use in his right are. Docs have said that he to far up the scale to try treatments. What do others think? I just wanna try keep ,y dad around as long as possible

Hi Loulou, wow…this thread goes waaaaay back to 2013!

Youd be best putting your question on the carers forum Lou. Might not get too many replies here.

Your dad has had MS eons…poor lad! Your a god lass to take care of him.

I`m a long timer too…22 years. Lost all mobility 18 years ago and have weak hands.

I`m afraid, same as me, your dad has had it too long for any treatments to help us now.

All we can do is take life at a steady pace, try to get good quality rest, watch Netflix and eat nice food!

Much love Boudsxx

Dear Team

Turria

Hello Turria,

I think you should talk to your doctor, there are some drugs available to treat fatigue but they must be prescribed by a doctor as they are rather strong.

Exercise is very good, if you are able to do it; walking, swimming, bending, stretching. You may not feel like it, but give it a try; start slowly for short periods and then gradually build it up. I try to take a walk almost every day, always with a walking stick and sometimes with two. Even just a short distance helps, and the fresh air is good.

Ben

Turria,

Maybe you should start a new thread. Go to the top of the board here Everyday living - MS Society UK | Forum and then click on ‘New Topic’, and name it ‘Fatigue’, you should get more replies if you post your question there.

Best of luck

Ben
