MS and Stress!

Hiya - hope your morning is going well?

I need to ask … do you find that even a small amount of stress sets off your MS symptoms with feelings of anxiety, worry and depression? It’s got to the stage with me that it badly affects my legs and I lose mobility!

I’m really struggling with things at the moment, everything is just too much!

i don’t know how to move forward? I need to get going again but … it’s so hard!!

Please can you guys offer some advice / suggestions?

Thanks xx

Get this completely & the smallest things stress me out & cause anxiety - hence I take prozac & buspirone to take the edge off. MS can do this to our brains and thought processes, it can be very dehabilitating so don’t be afraid to speak to your GP or MS nurse as help is out there.

Hiya Redman Thanks so much for your response - yes it is so scary and stops me wanting to leave the house! I struggle to get an appointment with the MS Nurse and when I saw a Dr recently and explained things I was issued with Naproxen along with a “prescription” for Sativax but that would cost me around £600 to obtain! I’m such a mess! xx

Keep asking the questions & if your gp doesn’t understand - try you local “crisis team” - do not suffer this alone - ask for help - it’s out there

Hi

ive found mindfulness helps. I get stressed over small things and then can’t do the simple stuff like transferring from my scooter to a chair. I call it my mental block but mindfulness can help if you’re not looking for a medicated option. Or you could try both

good luck

Hey thanks Redman and Loola for your responses!

I won’t give up as over the years I’ve had a fair few setbacks and things do pick up!

Haven’t ever thought about mindfulness but … I’ll give it ago.

thanks again xx

Eeyoregirl, I’m struggling with this badly at the moment too and just feel overwhelmed very quickly and then become psychologically ‘paralysed’ by it. I really don’t know if all this anxiety is caused by my MS or not though, which for some reason jus just just stress on top. It’s been causing some big problems at work as I’m a crier, the minute anything upsets me, off I go and I’m not able to control it at all. Does anyone have any tips to stop cring all the time? I’ve been this way most of my life but I was dxd at 16, so I’ve always wondered if it’s the ms or just me? Anyway, I hope the mindful ess works for you eeyoregirl and all the best, Roarylion

Hiya Roarylion Oh I’m sorry to hear how this flipping MS anxiety / worry seems to have taken over your life! Is there anyone you can confide in at work? Maybe in HR? I defo think you’ve got to see your GP as well and ask for help - as it must be so difficult to be so upset at work. I was retired through ill health about 4 years ago and although I don’t miss the struggle of getting to and from work and doing my job I really miss seeing my old colleagues. Think being at home all day causes me to think too much and I regret the loss of so much! It’s always so helpful to vent things here as everyone understands! Take care xx
