MRI results

Just a quick question: People seem to know what their scans say in a lot of detail. My GP has gone through mine with me but I don’t see my neuro until the end of September. I thought I understood but when I got home I forgot his exact wording. Are we allowed to ask for a copy of the report or should I wait till my appoimtment for hopefully a better explanation?
