Can anyone help? I have been taking 900mg of gabapentin 3 times a day (total 2700mg) for years and tolerating it really well but the pain issues have got worse. My MS nurse asked my GP to transfer me to pregabalin as she felt that this would be more effective but she only wants me to take 50mg 3 times a day which is a tiny dose and totally ineffective. Does anyone have any experience of transfering from one drug to the other and what doses they were recommended.

Morning, yes that’s what I’m doing at the moment, I was taking 600mg Gabepetin 3 x a day, the nurse wanted me to start on 150mg once a day still taking Gabepentin the other two for 3 days, then swapping another and so forth, I felt that this wouldn’t be right for me, and neither did my GP, so I started on the 50mg instead, and I’m glad I did, I’m tolerating it quite good doing it this way, I’m now on 100mg 3 x a day, and want to stay like this for a while for my body to settle down, I have to say it hasn’t taken away all the pain, and now the weather has changed that seems to getting worse again, but I just feel with the side affects I’m getting, which is increased fatigued, moods swings, so not bad in the run of things, but bad enough, so like I say I just want things to settle, and I will look at it again after christmas, all the best, and take care, Jean x
