Alright everyone
I’m currently sitting at the heaviest I’ve ever been 18.6 stone. I’m 32 years old and pretty fed up with it. One of my main MS symptoms is fatigue it’s awful I can’t seem to just get up and go and do simple tasks never mind fitness.
I was wondering if anyone else on here is currently taking mounjaro whilst also taking Kesimpta?
Few friends are taking mounjaro and I’ve really considered it but want to make sure the two won’t clash with each other.
Hi, best to check with your MS Team. I’ve had similar thoughts with Wegovy and my DMT. Will bring it up at next meeting.
You’ll need to check with your team of course. The concern I would have in your shoes would be how able you are to exercise and keep up your muscle mass even as you lose unwanted fat. Last thing you want is to lose muscle mass, although that probably matters less at your age than at mine (I’m female and 60+). But it’s precious at any age and hard to maintain with ms. And muscle maintenance is a demand-driven process: you don’t exercise those muscles, they waste, and that goes with bells on when you’re on a GLP 1 receptor agonist, as far as I understand it. But they do seem to be spectacularly effective drugs and come with all sorts of extra health benefits if the press is to be believed. Pretty expensive though, and folks who stop taking them get fat again, so you’re looking at many decades of expense ahead until the boffins come up with the next good idea or the government decides it can afford to give them to everybody.
I have been on Mounjaro for 10 weeks now and I’m also on Ocrevus. I haven’t had any issues with it and my MS nurse told me there was no interactions with being the medication. I have lost 1 stone 13lb in this time.
While it hasn’t improved my MS I still walk with a limp and my mobility isn’t the best I do feel I get less out of breath when moving round.

I’m also on Ocrevus and and considering this so I’ll contact my MS team as wasn’t sure if you could take it with DMD’s.
So it’s been ten weeks on mounjaro. I’ve lost just over two stone and feel great for anyone else considering it.

I started Mounjaro in August 2024, still taking it now (maintenance) after losing 7 stone. I’ve also been on Kesimpta for 3 years. My Neurologist was really interested in whether it had helped my MS in any way, especially as Mounjaro is linked to a growing number of health benefits. Alas, it hasn’t - in fact I think overall I’m more uncomfortable, but due to bones sticking into things
But I’ll take that! (My Neurologist is interested in it’s effects on inflammation)

Hi Joel,
How did you go with Mounjaro and Kesimpta?
I am on week 5 of Mounjaro. The neurologists here in Australia are also recommending for MS.
Some new studies point Mounjaro to be beneficial to the brain.
I have just started 5ml and I am feeling it. After 1 month in 2.5ml, the 5ml is making me sick. I cant even look at food. Once I manage to get my weight down, the goal would go back to 2.5ml just for the MS benefit.
It has been a few months since your post. I hope you got to where you wished.
Ive not had one bit of bother with it. I’ve lost 3.5 stone and feel brilliant.

they have no idea what the end result can be.
i am 8.3 now too less, but its easy to loose weight on MS. there is a system you eat the calories you use.
so if your not walking much why eat a ton of calories. you eat less.
my motto is this, if you want a lasagne, you dont have chips with it, you have salad, you only eat one carb per meal. i have 2 friends i have been helping and without these drugs one has lost 3 stones over 6 months and the other just under 2, and all they have done is eaten BETTER and less.
i dont agree with these fat jabs, not enough research has gone on them, and like you said alison what do you do with the lost muscle. i saw one poor lady who had not taken advise and it was hanging around her stomach in a huge flap, and the doctor wont help her have surgery cosmetic to remove it.
I think if it works for you, go for it.

I’ve put on 3 stone in the past couple of years having successfully lost that weight 20 years ago and maintained it for at least 17 years.
I don’t really overeat but drank alcohol too much and unfortunately due to MS I’m not as fit or mobile as I was.
I’m on week 3 of Monjaro and have had no desire for alcohol and have cut one meal a day out and I’ve lost 8lbs already.
A long way to go but I feel it’s working for me .
