motorbility

Hi all, had a letter today from motobility saying i could be entitlled to a new car!!! which would be nice, has anyone on here taken up this offer, i know you have to give up your dla payment, just wondered what the pros/cons are? all the best TC.

Hi tc, I have a motor biliary car and so far haven’t stumbled across any issues. Love the fact you get a wide range of cars you can choose from and most are no deposit, depende on the type etc. no insurance or tax to pay they cover everything all you have to do is look after the car and put petrol in. Just like Kate I enjoy the trouble free nature of it – no tax , maintenance or insurance to worry about. I’m on my 4th motability vehicle and have not really come across any pitfalls.

Hi yep i was offered 1 a few years back now but declined probably because i like bikes  but i did hear 1 horror story that made me think a guy down the road had 1 and he was being a direction of anger by someone he had annoyed and the guy scratched his car and when it camde to renewing he had to pay for the damage to be repaired 1st before anything else , again this is hear say as i dont know the chap to talk to other than a hello , personally i think its an awesome thing and meaning travel and getting out and about gives us all that little bit of freedom back

all the best

Hi, if you can afford to give up the mobiity element of DLA, then go for it. It is a great, worry free way of keeping yourself on the road.

Good luck.

hiya

i had one for 3/4 years til i became to unwell to drive it. had one accident, hit black ice, no-one else involved and was a nightmare to sort out. should have been straight forward but…

but as others have said a good scheme if it works properly! now i use the money for taxi’s. if u do have to claim for any reason, take photos at the time if u can!

All sounds gd to me ill go for it, Thanks for all your replies. Take care All… TC…(Tony) …

l have never used my benefits for a car - prefer to buy one myself. l get my road tax free - so its insurance/ servicing that l have to pay myself. To get a car big enough to take my scooter - or tow my scooter -and room for the dogs- and an automatic transmission would be difficult with the cars on offer by motobility.

lf you only want a small hatchback - then do look at the Ex Mobility cars. A friend of mine bought one - Toyota - automatic - very low mileage - one previous owner and full service history - and not a lot of money - £3000.

ln the past - l have been lucky with my cars. Volvo Estate/VW Golf - now l have a Subaru Forester. My insurance is low because l have 48yrs no claim. So do the calculations and see if you would be better off buying your own vehicle.

There is no way - l could afford to give up this benefit just to fund a car.

I ummmed and ahh’d about using mine for a car, but after my car was hit by a woman reversing out of her drive and writing it off, I decided to bite the bullet and try it out. I am so glad I did. I have nothing but good to say about it. Go for it!

Hi I am now on my 4th car thru motability. Just renewed it as never had problems. I’ve had one crash and everything was sorted very well. I find the scheme fits my lifestyle and needs really well. Neil
