Right I’ve just sent the email to ask to opt out of it! So basically if I ever wanted a policy to ever pay out before I got tm I would have needed to have had it in place before I got the tm? Or if I wanted it now it would be overly expensive due to the tm? Thank you so much to everybody you have all been so helpful. Xxx
I very much doubt you will be able to get a policy, once you’ve already had TM. There’s nothing to stop you shopping around - being honest this time - but if you could, it’s likely the premiums would be prohibitive anyway.
It’s true TM doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll have future ill health. BUT, you’re a lot higher risk than Joe Average, who’s never had anything of the sort. That’s why most insurers won’t want to know.

You’ve already had excellent advice from anyone but I just wanted to add that if you don’t fully understand anything in future - Do Not Sign Up.
It is up to the mortgage broker or financial adviser to make sure that you fully understand what they are selling. Keep asking questions until you fully understand. Don’t let them rush you.
Some of them are just interested in the commission cheque and not bothered in what is right for the client. Bad brokers . I’m not saying you shouldn’t have insurance, but you need to know exactly what you are paying for before you sign on the dotted line.
I’m glad you cancelled. You can always look at insuring your partner separately later on when the mortgage is set up.
