I find out on monday if i have MS, had numbness since may 2014,suffered tightness in left hand torso since i had a cold in march,also developed a problem with dragging my left foot for 3 months, been told it may not be ms but it may be Atherosclerosis,if it is ms would i be started on steroids straight away,how the hell can it take years to get a diagnosis,it’s a bloody disgrace

i understand the frustration in awaiting diagnosis.
it’s because there are other conditions which mimic ms symptoms.
not long to go now.

Can I ask what tests. if any, you have had done since 2014? Blood work, mri, ct scan, lumber puncture etc? Just curious.
If you have a confirmed ms diagnosis and are currently having a relapse, then yes, a course of steroids is likely.
I had my ms diagnosed last May 2015. Since 2014, I had complained of my right knee being painful and “buckling” now and again. X-rays, physiotherapy, MRIs were all performed on the knee…nothing found. Pins and needles in my right foot had begun. Thinking trapped nerve, MRI on spine done April 2015…nothing found. May, Saturday, paralysis right side, ambulance to A&E, brain MRI, Sunday diagnosed MS!! The shock was overwhelming. Personally, I’d have rathered a few years “warning”.

I have just read your profile and now I’m confused.
You say you were diagnosed with MS in 2001 having had eight relapses prior to that, and get about using a power chair, and that you have Hyperaccusis which limits your life more than MS? I don’t understand your query now.

A bit about me
First relapse 1979, eight relapses remained undiagnosed until 2001, but as a competitive swimmer, and full time worker - life was full. These days I get out and about in my powerchair (Puma 40 - fantastic), and just do my best to live. I also have hyperacusis which limits my life more than the MS, and fatigued caused by vibration and sometimes just the strain thinking… I avoid stress which helps.

Hi, advise please?
I’ve had some weird foot/heel pain for over a year freezing toes, burning toes, pins needles, feeling of feet being tightly squashed, my eyesight has deteriorated over last 12 months, occasionally lose balance having to quickly take another step sideways , co-ordination issues very often miss coffee with sugar sachets and spill it.
About 6 months ago woke up and my whole left leg was just feeling fizzy with pins and needles , it lasted several hours, but last Thursday I started having " stinging nettle " burning sensation to feet, legs , face , hands, fingers, in patches which has been with me for over 1 week , sometimes less obvious than other times.
my Dr has referred me to a Neurologist and I understand that may not be for 3 months - what does anyone think?

I was diagnosed last may,first had symptoms in may 2014,i saw a neurologist last september he stated he would refer me to a colleague,i never received an appointment,i saw him again in march have now received an appt for August,since a bad cold i had 2 months ago i have suffered a tightness in my left hand side,last week i had surgery for a benign tumour in my head,i’m terrified ms symptoms will only get worse following surgery,went to gp who was to put it mildly useless,was offered diazepam 2mg and a ibuprofen,I’m desperate for urgent treatment what do i do?.

Do you have a MS nurse? If so get in touch with them urgently - I have found them to be an 8nvaluable resource for opening the gateways between me and the services I have needed.
Oh b***er! I missed the first line of Stars reply and thought this was Star asking for advice! There is something a bit odd about these posts from the OP; what’s occurring?

Mojave is strangely quiet.
“Odd” posts like this make me cross. They strike me as attention seeking people, that may or may not, have some illness, MS or not MS, diagnosed or not, real or imaginary. Either way, I feel it is unfair to people who have taken the time to read and reply. Over and out of this thread now.

Looking at what Poppy and Stars have said, there is something very odd going on here. If the previous posts and the profile don’t belong to you, maybe you should get in touch with the site administrators as you have us all confused. Or is it you who is confused?
Your profile has a picture of a woman, and a defined diagnosis in 2001.
There have also been a number of other posts, eg the one Stars mentioned.
It’s very difficult to make any comments to any other of your postings (I notice that I’ve made quite a few responses to your earlier posts), unless you can iron out your profile and your previous postings. If there is a total mix up with regard to this profile, then perhaps you can sort out a new user name, a correct profile and start again with the things you actually need help with.
Apart from that, I can’t see any of us answering any other posts, as it is all too confusing.

I was diagnosed with ms,it’s a great relief to finally find out,i’ve got inflammation in my spine which is causing numbness,will need iv steroids in the next few days,
