Hello again folks, I havent been on for a while as things have been busy. Was seen this morning by my neuro and I told him fatigue was still my main problem and he suggested commencing modafinil 100mg in morning. However he stated it could elevate blood pressure and had to get BP checked before he would instruct GP to prescribe it. I told him that was no bother as my normal BP was usually 90/50 at best. However when it was checked at hosp it was 150/90 he gave me letter for GP anyway but advised me to get it checked tomorrow at work before starting tablets and only then if BP was normal.
Has anyone else any experience of this drug and did it help or were there any side effects.
Take care

I’ve not had any bp problems with modafinil, but then mine is usually on the low side.
I am a huge fan of modafinil - it has literally transformed my life. I rarely have to sleep during the day and I’m able to stay up late too. I also sleep like a log most nights (modafinil can reduce night-time urination - nice bonus!). I take 100mg at 10am and 100mg at 3pm (later if I’m going out in the evening).
It did take me a while to work out dose and timing and I was a bit spaced out, “jittery” and got some headaches for the first couple of weeks, but it’s been great since then. I’ve been on it now for nearly 3 years. I should say that it doesn’t help my motor/muscle fatigue (I get knackered very quickly if I do anything physical), but it’s brilliant for keeping me awake and alert.
I know it doesn’t work for everyone though, so please don’t get your hopes up too high. It’s probably a 50/50 chance at best
If 100mg in the morning doesn’t work, do ask to try 2 x 100mg a day. If the GP moans about the cost, suggest the 200mg pills - they are cheaper than 2 x 100mg pills and are easy to break in two.
I hope it works as well for you as it does for me

Thanks for that Karen hopefully I will be as fortunate as you.
