Hello everyone but this is specifically going to ladies who self-catheterise. I know this have been covered here before but anyway…
Just wondered who here learnt to do it without a mirror i.e. just by feel. And did anyone have a nurse out to teach them at home? I had my lesson on this last week prior to having botox and it has been so so stressful. Really can’t see what I’m doing (even after purchasing a terrific 10x magnifying mirror!) and it’s been pretty upsetting tbh. I don’t want to have the Botox unless I crack this!
Would happily pay for a visit from a continence nurse (N. London) but not sure how to find this. Any words of advice please?
I also have been told to self catheterise and bought one of those mirrors. If you find a continence nurse in London, I would also be interested in paying a nurse to teach me. I recently had to catheterise when I had a urine infection.
Hi there , I had a nurse come out to my home to show me. I done it a few times but I don’t any more. She said to do it every now and again to keep up the skill so I very rarely have done so.
I remember sitting on the very edge of the toilet with the mirror balanced between my leg and the toilet seat, that then gives you 2 hands to get the job done which is definitely easier. The Mirror I have has an in built light which helps. I also remember the nurse saying that some people’s urethra is more difficult to locate so it might just be practice makes perfect. Good luck
