This is my first posting since being diagnosed last December.
Along with the symptoms that I am getting used to numbness, variations in sensations in left leg, feet feel tingly and bloody awful, dead arms and pain at night… these past few days I have experienced sore, joint-like pain in my fingers and my toes. I sometimes get a pain that feels like I have a bruise on my thighs and legs but nothing to show for it.
Is this an MS symptom? Could it get worse? Is this a relapse?!
I’m on Gabapentin. Is it just beneficial to take regular pain relief?
Hey Treasure, Not sure I can help but just wanted to reply to your first post so you don’t feel ignored What I have found from this site is that I have had lots of truly wonderful advice and support. However sometimes replies are sometimes limited or zero. I think when this happens is sincerely because no one can help because if they could they would reply. I have re entry to occasionally suffer bone pain in bed at night. It is either my left collar bone or my right lower leg bone. Really painful and doesn’t make sense as how can bones be painful when they have no nerves. Or maybe they do I’m no bone expert. The pain I feel is not like a bruise like you describe but bone pain. I take nothing for it and it soon goes thank goodness. It would be a relapse if it is a new symptom that hasn’t occurred for the previous month and lasts for longer than 24 hours. Don’t know if it can get worse . If it is neuropathic pain then regular pain relief shouldn’t work. However may be worth a try. As I get a very weird symptom of acutely painful eyes. No loss of vision thank goodness. For this I take 2 codeine and 2 ibuprofen which works. This doesn’t make sense to me as I put this eye pain down to an MS thing which should only respond to neuropathic pain killers not normal ones. I have been to ophthalmology to get my eyes checked and all was Ok. Hope this helps Min xx
Hi Treasure Pot, I am experiencing very similar things myself and have been prescribed Gabapentin for the pain. Since these are new symptoms and pretty severe it is a relapse in my case. I have had the symptoms for about 3 weeks. Not sure if this is overly helpful but it’s nice to know that you are not the only one it may be worth a call to your MS nurse if you have one, I know mine is always at the other end of the phone for advice. Amy

Hello and welcome, I too have been getting finger/wrist and joint bone pain and was not sure if it was the ms. It’s not too bad so have not mentioned it. Hope you feel better soon, Best wishes Sue x
Hi treasure, I to have experienced joint pain that affected every joint in my body. It happened about five days I to a relapse and was horrific. I thought that it couldn’t possibly be ms as it was joint related, but it played a huge part in the midst of a lot of other symptoms, so who knows. I also get a tooth ache like pain in my arm that lasted for a few days and disappears then just comes back for a second or two every now and again just to remind me it’s still there. It’s definitely worth mentioning it to your nurse. J x
